Learn how to paint with wax and resin at a workshop hosted by Leah.
Learn the basics of encaustic painting with a maximum of 4 total students per session. You'll be introduced to the tools and techniques of encaustic painting, adding texture and pigment as you build up layers of wax. Due to the use of hot wax and heat guns or torches, this class is for people that are age 14 and above.
You'll leave the workshop with a couple small paintings of your own and a good understanding of the encaustic painting process. All materials are included in the workshop cost, which is $125 for a 2 hour Friday evening class and includes complimentary beer or wine.
IF YOU HAVE RECEIVED AN ELEMENT GIFT CARD (and you'd like to use it for a workshop) please call 541-432-1911 or stop by the shop to reserve your spot rather than using the button below. "We had such a good time doing encaustic painting with Leah in her art studio! Having never heard of encaustic painting, we had no idea what to expect. She gave us a great introduction to the art, and we were able to try multiple different techniques over the course of the workshop.
We learned encaustic painting is an ancient art technique that uses a mixture of clear wax and resin, layered with paint and texture to create a unique art piece. A heat source is used to fuse wax to wood, and with each layer, the painting comes to life. Each piece of ours was completely different from the next. Encaustic painting can be done free form, but Leah also showed us how to do a few photo transfers, which turned out to be absolutely stunning, even for newbies like us.
Everything you could ask for from an art excursion in Joseph. We absolutely recommend this art experience and don’t have enough good things to say about Leah’s instruction or the process of encaustic painting."
